Men in Sheds Brackley
Charity No. 1203924

AGM                                            23rd October 2024                      6:30pm

Old Fire Station, High Street

On October 23rd, in The Old Fire Station at 6:30 pm, MIS Brackley will hold its second Annual General meeting.  This year we have a lot of progress to celebrate: our  first shed is up and fitting out almost complete. This means members can finally get together to create and build projects for ourselves and to generate income to ensure our future.

We welcome present members, any ladies and gentlemen thinking about becoming members, and those just wanting to know what we are all about.

The great news is that our application to the National Lottery for funding was successful,  and I am very pleased to tell you that we have been awarded £19,000.

This will pay for our second shed and the tools and machinery that to go in it. The award demonstrates the value placed on endeavours  like  Men in Sheds that contribute to the well-being of their members and the wider community.

The commitment is to build a Men in Sheds workshop in Brackley and join the family of the 600 Sheds in the UK.

Men in Sheds was established to create a space where men and women of all ages and abilities can gather to undertake projects for the local community, themselves, or just meet like-minded individuals. In doing so people, who otherwise might be isolated, or feel excluded will find a welcoming community to accept them, their skills, and have them teach or learn new ones.

As most participants will likely have some sort of woodworking knowledge (however basic) the aim is initially to establish a workshop concentrating on those activities. Once it is up and running it will be up to the members to decide the direction Brackley MIS will take. It will also be a support for members, and the community by working with local volunteer organizations, Repair Cafes and the like, to carry out projects for the benefit of Brackley and its residents.
